In the three month’s to January 31, 2016 dwelling values across Australia’s combined capital cities fell 0.6%, the latest CoreLogic RP Data Hedonic Home Value Index shows.
Brisbane (0.8%), Perth (1.7%) and Hobart (3%) were the only capitals to record positive growth for the quarter.
Sydney suffered the biggest losses with -2.1% growth, followed by Darwin (-1.4%), Adelaide (-0.9%), Canberra (-0.6%), and Melbourne (-0.1%).
In addition, the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data on dwelling approvals – for December 2015 – shows a 2.5% fall in total approvals year on the.
House approvals are 3.4% higher, but unit approvals fell 8.3%, putting total approvals in the negative.
